Pediatricians have Reported a 50% Increase in Teen Depression Since the Start of Pandemic- Ohio AAP’s Store It Safe Program Offers Free Resources

Ohio AAP’s Store It Safe (SIS) Teen Suicide Prevention Program officially launched this past November, and we want to make sure our members are taking full advantage of all the FREE resources!  Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, pediatricians have reported more than a 50% increase in teen depression. It’s clear the pandemic has had a huge impact on teen mental health and suicide risks- with changes in school schedules and lack of contact with friends causing increased stress, anxiety and feelings of isolation for many. The Ohio AAP’s Store It Safe (SIS) Teen Suicide Prevention Program aims to identify teens with mental health concerns, provide appropriate interventions, and create barriers to the most lethal means for suicide. The SIS Teen Program features many FREE resources and great educational content for providers.
