We are on high alert in regards to HB 248 with the second hearing in the House Health Committee this week. We are looking at ways to keep our immunization partners up-to-date and informed on the progress of the bill and keep us organized as we ramp up our opposition.
As you know, Ohio Parents Advocating for Vaccines (PA4V) recently relaunched as Ohio Champions for Vaccines (OC4V)! We chose a new name and brand to reflect the fact that we are inclusive to all individuals, agencies and organizations that support the mission, not just parents. OC4V members will collaborate with medical and public health groups, parents and caregivers, and other invested stakeholders to reduce barriers to vaccines, distribute accurate, science-based immunization information, and encourage evidence-based vaccine policy.
As part of this relaunch, we are now asking our immunization partners to sign onto OC4V as an organization, not just as individual members. We thought this would be an easy way to keep us organized especially around legislative issues like HB 248. And please keep in mind, that if there’s specific legislation or pieces of legislation that your organization does not support, etc., you are more than welcome to opt-out of supporting that piece. There is strength in numbers and Ohio’s children need our collective impact as we work to oppose this dangerous bill.
At your convenience, please take a few minutes to take our organizational pledge at: http://oldsite.ohioaap.org/oc4v
Additionally, if you have a group of individuals within your organization who would like to sign onto OC4V as individuals in order to receive alerts to contact their legislators, please feel free to add their names and contact information to this spreadsheet and send back to us so that we can add them to our grassroots advocacy platform. Please also share partners that we should be engaging in this effort, we are happy to reach out to additional contacts to increase our presence.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Looking forward to our continued partnership around pro-vaccine advocacy!
