Let’s Talk! Ohio AAP Looking to Interview Parents About the HPV Vaccine

The Ohio AAP is looking to interview 10-15 Ohio parents around Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and the HPV vaccine. As an organization, we are trying to understand where parents are getting their information and why some parents are hesitant or reluctant to get the vaccine for their children. We would like to work together to better appreciate how parents make immunization-related decisions.

The parents can be hesitant of all vaccines or just the HPV vaccine specifically. We would love to talk to someone who was once vaccine hesitant, but now have decided to move forward with vaccinating their child(ren) or vice versa. What information did they receive that motivated them to change their mind? We would also be interested in interviewing an adolescent or two about why they are hesitant to get the vaccine for themselves.

The in-depth interviews should last about 30 minutes and will be conducted by our researcher out of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center/University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Participants will receive a $15 gift card for their time.

If you have a parent or adolescent who may be interested in participating or if you’d like additional information, please contact our Director of Immunization Programs, Lory Sheeran Winland, at lwinland@ohioaap.org. Thank you so much for your help!
