Help Us Reach Our Goal of Distributing 10,000 Bike Helmets to Ohio’s Children!

For the past eleven years, the Ohio AAP’s Put A Lid On It program has been working hard to promote bike helmet safety and prevent injuries through education and the distribution of free helmets. Helmet use can reduce the risk of head injury by 85%, and 75% of bike-related fatalities would be prevented with a helmet. As the weather warms we’re sure many will be experiencing pandemic fatigue and wanting to get out of the house. But even as more and more Ohioans are vaccinated every day, it’s important to continue practicing necessary safety precautions.

Luckily, bike riding is a safe outdoor activity for the whole family! The Put A Lid On It program teaches children bike and helmet safety, provides a chance for physical exercise as well as…

  • An outdoor activity that naturally creates social distance
  • Help reduce stress during these difficult times
  • Wearing a helmet not only reduces the risk of injury and death from bicycle accidents, it can prevent trips to hospitals and ERs  and unnecessary burdens on the health care system

But we need YOUR help to support this program!

We are asking for your help in our goal of donating 10,000 helmets across the state. Raising an additional $3,000 well help support one of the chapter’s longest running programs and put us on the right path to bike helmet safety! Every $5 donated provides a helmet – and if each of our members donates just 1 helmet, we could easily reach and surpass our goal to donate 10,000 helmets in 2021. Please visit the link below to support the Put A Lid On It campaign and to help keep Ohio’s children safe!
