Tickborne diseases continue to increase and cause significant morbidity in Ohio. As people spend more time outdoors this time of year, contact with ticks and the risk of contracting tick-borne diseases, such as anaplasmosis, babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, Lyme disease, and spotted fever rickettssiosis increases. The Ohio Department of Health Zoonotic Disease Program and Office of Communications staff would be happy to provide assistance in drafting information to include in your newsletters in an effort to increase awareness of Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases in Ohio.
If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact the ODH Zoonotic Disease Program at 614-752-1029 and ask for our tick-borne disease epidemiologist, Lynn Denny, or myself. You can also email us at zoonoses@odh.ohio.gov.
